This is a beautiful Ethiopian war shield. 19 inches diameter, 6 inches high steel shield covered on its outside surface with violet velvet (now slightly worn and faded) and set with radial decorative panels of pierced, engraved and gilded copper (?) . The inside fabric cover as well as the handle are unfortunately missing. The top steel boss is slightly dented but can be easily repaired. Very good piece, probably belonged to a high ranking person in the Ethiopian army.
