An Execution Keris dagger / sword from Sumatra. This rare type of Keris was used to execute criminals. The long narrow blade was inserted above the collarbone of the sitting executed person and pushed down directly into the heart, causing instant death. The blade of this specific Keris has 21 inches blade, narrow but sturdy and with acute tip and very clear pamor pattern. The hilt is typical style carved from ivory with a silver mendak (the small metal ring/fitting below the hilt). The scabbard is wood with horn tip. Total length 27 inches. Very Good condition Minor blackened spots on the blade. An age crack on the hilt ( but hold solid). The silver Mendak is later. A good fine piece at a very reasonable price.
