Up for sale is this 19 C. Turkish Shamshir sword, with a military issue blade, for use by high ranking officers in the Turkish army. The blade is light, 32 9nches long, with shallow fuller. The grips are cut from Rhino horn with a very nice engraved silver cross guard and silver grip strap. The scabbard is covered with its original black leather stitched with the classical spiral stitching. The scabbard fittings are silver, with the locket marked with the period Tugrha of the ruling sultan. The scabbard tip is steel with gold koftgari decoration. Total length 38 inches. Very good condition. Minor damages and repairs to the scabbard locket.
