Up for sale is this very fine piece: An early short Yataghan, more of a big knife than a sword. Fine old straight blade, 12 inches long, elaborately decorated with silver and gold (?) flowers. Ivory grips and silver bosses on the rivets, black horn spacers, with finely engraved silver grip strap and bolsters. The silver scabbard is finely decorated with Niello design. Total length 19 inches. Very good condition with some minor pitted spots on the blade. Three of the rivets rosettes are missing. A very fine piece for the advanced collector.
