Fine and Unusual Indian Sword with Damascus Blade - 7709

This Indian sword is probably from the second half of the 19 C. Its blade is unusual in a way that it is waved, but not like the many wavy blades made for ceremonial purposes this one is a real fighting blade. It is thick and heavy, deadly sharp, 29 inches long. It is forged from very fine pattern welded steel ( Damascus) with a clear high contrast pattern. The whole steel handle is entirely covered with silver and gold koftgari work. This sword comes with its original old scabbard with the original steel fittings and only the green velvet cover is recent. Total length 34 ½ inches. Very good condition. Only minor edge nicks and minor losses of silver and gold on the handle. A fine sword. |
