Very Fine Damascus Sousson Pata Sword - India - 7704
The Indian Sousson Pata Sword is characterized by the heavy down curving blade, resembling the blade of the Turkish Yataghan sword. This one has a heavy blade 29 inches long, forged from very fine pattern welded (Damascus) steel with very clear pattern on the entire blade. The handle is a Tulwar style handle, whole steel, with D guard, lavishly decorated with good heavy gold koftgari work. Wood scabbard covered with black leather. Total length 34 inches. Very good condition. Some minor losses to the gold decoration and little leather loss on the back of the scabbard. A very fine 19C. vintage sword. |
