Very Fine 18 C. Hooded Kattar Dagger - 7655


A very old probably 18C. version of the famous Kattar (Katar). A development stage between the Pata, the long gauntlet sword and the Kattar, the short push dagger. It has a multi fullered blade 15 ½ long. The cross bars are shaped like small balls with side arms connected to the main side bars. The handle is protected with a steel hood nicely decorated along its edges and terminating in a monster head shaped tip. The hood cover and the side bars are connected with a twisted steel reinforcement arch. 22 inches total length. Very good condition. Minor damage to one of the cross bars. This is a superb piece of steel work. Very clean very elegant and very rare item. A find for the advanced collector of Indo-Persian weapons.
