Pandat, War Sword of the Dayak, Sarawak, Kalimantan - 0706

The Pandat, also known as Parang Pandit is the war sword of the land Dayak of Sarwak, in North West Kalimantan (Borneo). It is a two handed sword, used only as a war sword and never as a tool, a multiuse which is so common to other blades from the Indonesian archipelago. Blade and handle are forged from one piece of steel. This specimen has a 21 inches blade, widening toward the tip which is cut with a classical V shaped cut. The handle has two brass band and a bone pommel. The scabbard is carved and painted wood and comes with the original carrying cord made from red fabric. The shape of the blade suggests an attribution to the Sidin Dayak people. Very good condition.
