Piha Kahetta Knife Dagger with Stylus, Sri Lanka - 7485


This type of knife / dagger is called “PIHA KAHETTA”, and it is the traditional knife of the Sinhalese from Sri-Lanka (Ceylon). This specific example has a 6 inches long blade, but only about 2 inches of the blade length has an edge. The rest is lavishly inlaid with silver and brass decoration. The bolster itself is engraved brass. The grip is made from black horn with brass fittings. Wood scabbard with fluted silver locket and chape. This knife comes with a rare steel stylus covered with silver. Total length is 10. Good condition. Age patina on the blade with minor pitted spots. A thin crack in the handle and some losses to the silver cover of the scabbard.
