Very Fine Khanjarli Dagger with Damascus Blade - 7440

The Khanjarli, one of the rarest and most sought after dagger in the Indian weaponry. It is characterized by its strongly re-curving blade and wide lunette shaped pommel. This one is a very fine example, with 7 ½ inches multi-fullered blade forged from fine wootz (Damascus) steel. The lunette shaped pommel and grips are Ivory, riveted to the tang with silver rosettes. Total length 12 ½ inches. Very good condition. The silver rosettes are recent. The slight difference in the patina color of the grips and the pommel may indicate that the lunette pommels sectors are later, but still very old. This piece comes with a recently made wood scabbard covered with colorful fabric. A very fine piece.
