A Rare Fine Pesh-Kab Dagger Early 19C - 7372

This superb dagger is a Pesh-Kabz , a member of the family of the Karud and a Khybar Knife, but with a re-curving blade. The whole family of such daggers is common to India, Persia and several Central Asian countries. The blade is of forged from persian wootz. 8 ½ inches long, heavy, with a pronounced T spine, reinforced edge and thickened armor piercing tip. The grips are of elephant ivory, the grip strap and bolsters are steel decorated with gold Koftgari work. Very good elegant blade shape a piece of quality.Total length 13 inches. very good condition, a small area of the gold is worn. A further etching will bring the pattern to its full beauty. |
