Fine Wootz (Damascus) Kattar Dagger Rajasthan - 7356

This is a fine early 19 Century Kattar push dagger from Rajasthan, India, most probably from the armory of Bikaner. The blade is forged from fine Indian wootz (Damascus, Crystalline) steel. 10 ½ inches long, with strong central rib and thickened armor piercing tip. The Rajathan / Bikaner attribution comes from the dot marking on the side bars and the blade heel, probably the armory marking. Also typical is the polished edges with the central part only of the blade being etched to show the Damascus pattern. Total length 17 ½ inches. Very good condition. |
