Very Fine Old Dao Sword of the Naga - 7276

The Naga people of Assam (North-East India) and The Kachin people of Myanmar (Burma) uses this very efficient sword / cleaver. It has a very heavy blade, widening to maximum width at its very top. This one is a classical example. Heavy blade with bevelededge, 18 1/2 inches long, Wood grip with flared pommel bound with red lacquered braided rattan fibers and with a ivory pommel cover. Silver grip collar. The scabbard is open on one side, bound also with rattan bands to hold the blade in place, including the complete rattan made carrying belt. Total length 25 inches (in scabbard). It is in perfect condition. All authentic. No repairs or restorations. This example is of fine quality better than average examples. |
