Wootz Karud Dagger from Bukhara - 7157

This Karud dagger is the straight back member of the family of the Pesh-Kabz, Choora and Khyber Knife. The whole family of such daggers is common to India, Persia and several Central Asian countries. The blade is forged of wootz (Damascus) steel, 10 ½ inches long, heavy, with a pronounced T spine tapering to an acute tip. The grips are Rhino horn with a pronounced fibrous structure cut axially as is clearly seen in the photos. The grip strap and bolsters are steel and were covered with silver which is now mostly gone. The very typical horn grips indicate a Bukhara origin. Good condition. Minor pitted spots on the blade. No scabbard. Very low price considering the rarity of real daggers from Bukhara |
