Very Fine Wootz Karud Dagger - 7154


A very fine ‘KARUD’ (the common name for a ‘Pesh-Kabz’ with straight blade). from North India or Afghanistan origin. A very fine wootz blade 10 inches long with acute point and reinforced T spine. The grips are elephant ivory with a very deep age patina. The grip strap and bolsters are lavishly decorated with a gold koftgari inlay. The scabbard is wood covered with fabric (recent) and mounted with copper fittings. Total length (in scabbard) 15 inches. Very good condition. The scabbard fittings were gold washed but now all the gold is worn. The scabbard tip is restored. A very high quality piece for the advanced collector.
