This is an Arabic Saber / Saif of very good plus quality. The blade is a Persian Shamshir blade, 32 inches long, forged from very good wootz steel. The hilt and cross-guard are silver, all in a typical Arab style and decoration. The cross guard is secured to the grip and bound with silver wire. The scabbard is wood mounted with engraved silver locket and chape. The sword comes with its original red fabric carrying belt (which was removed for cleaning and re-bound on the scabbard, hence color fading is not even). Good condition. One side of the blade s moderately pitted toward the tip area. Minor pitted spots on the other face as well. The scabbard cover is recent and the chape tip is restored with soft welding. This is an old 18 C. blade with 19 Century fittings.
