Moroccan straight Dagger made from military Bayonet - 7057

The Moroccan arsenal of blades includes also a variety of short straight daggers made from surplus blades: Broken swords, trade blades, bayonets and the like. They all bear very distinct Moroccan style in material and decorations and known in the name of JANWI, probably a local distortion of the name Genoa, a source for similar straight daggers. Here is a very nice example with a blade made from a early military bayonet, 13 inches long. Grip made from a massive single piece of Rhino horn with a distinct fibrous structure and set with silver fittings. The scabbard is made of brass and silver, chiseled in a classical Moroccan pattern. The scabbard come with its original red baldric carrying rope. Very good condition
