The Barongs heavy leaf shaped blades are known to have superior cutting abilities. This one is a good very old Moro Barong, with a 14 inches blade forged from laminated steel and signed with a maker (Chinese ??) character. The hilt is carved from a beautiful grained wood in a very classical form, bound to the blade tang with braided fibers. The scabbard is wood with carved patterns at the top and tip, filled with white material, and bound with two Rattan strips. Total length (In scabbard) 23 inches. Good blade with few pitted spots and forging flaws. The scabbard tip is partially restored and the grip has wood chips and minor hairline age cracks but holds very solid. A very impressive piece.
