Fine Jile Dagger Horn of Africa - 6844
We offer here for sale this fine silver mounted Jile Dagger, used by the Danakil people residing in the Horn of Africa. This is a classical specimen from the mid 20 C. A sharply curving 13 inches long and fullered blade, widest at its center. Hilt made of wood bound with silver wire and the pommel covered with silver cap decorated with fine filigree work. Leather scabbard with a globular silver tip and bound with silver wire. This dagger come with its original leather belt and buckle. This dagger probably belonged to a high ranking person with the rich silver decoration demonstrates his wealth and status. Total length 21 inches. Very good condition. |
