19 C. Ottoman Dagger set with Corals - 6909


A very typical small curved dagger from the late 18 or early 19 C. The curved blade is 5 ½ inches long and decorated with gold koftgari inscription in Arabic letters. The hilt and scabbard are copper, front side is gilded and set with corals and tiny turquoise stones. There are more than 39 corals set in this piece . The rear side of the hilt and the scabbard are made of chased copper. This type of decoration was common in the 18 C. in the eastern parts of the Ottoman Empire. Very good plus condition.
