19 C. Ottoman Dagger set with Corals - 6908


A very typical small dagger from the late 18 or early 19 C. The blade is 5 ½ inches long and decorated with gold koftgari work. The hilt and scabbard are silver, front side is gilded and set with corals and turquoise stones. There are 39 corals and 29 turquoise stones set in this piece . The rear side of the hilt and the scabbard are made of chased silver. This type of decoration was common in the 18 C. in the eastern parts of the Ottoman Empire. Very good condition. The gold koftgary design on the blade is partially worn. Few stones are cracked.
