Up for sale is this very Unusual Yatagan sword, probably of Balkan origin. NOT as usual it is equipped with a straight heavy fullered blade 22 ½ inches long. The grips are massive pieces of walrus Ivory cut in straight lines, almost square in shape. The grip strap and bolster are gilded copper set with corals. Wood scabbard mounted with iron fittings and covered with red velvet. Good condition. Few darkened spots with very light pitting on the blade. The grip strap has few dents and few stones are missing. One of the grips is cracked and re-glued. The scabbard fittings are later and the velvet cover is recent. Very attractive item.
